ELLE UK is celebrating black excellence by featuring young black British stars in its February issue.

The line of talents include rapper Stormzy, model Jourdan Dunn, boxer Joshua Batsi and sprinter Dina Asher-Smith. Stormzy, who is the first grime artist to headline music festival Glastonbury, brought the talented individuals together.

The aim of the spread is to raise awareness and inspire the younger generations of black Britons to work hard and achieve their dreams.

Stormzy explained that he wants the younger audience to know that if you put in effort to achieve your goals, you can excel in “whatever lane you want.” He also describes the powerful and incredible team featured in the photoshoot as the “Avengers.”

Other stars include footballer Wilfried Zaha, activist Temi Mwale and writer Yrsa Daley-Ward, to name a few. Zaha took to Twitter to express her excitement, saying, “Inspiring a generation Stormzy. Proud to be on the cover of @ELLEUK with these guys. Young, black and British.” Though there has been progress to recognize British talent, Stormzy feels that black talent is “not well documented.”

He added that Britain has a history of dismissing black talent in the past. The rapper hopes that this will not be the case in future as blacks have many incredible things to show the world. The photoshoot has received many positive comments on Twitter.

“The shot of Stormzy is more than I can handle. So beautiful and powerful,” responded one Twitter user, while another wrote, “Can I please just state how immensely proud and happy this cover makes me. This is gloriously fantastic.”
